Guiding People To Jesus Nation By Nation...

Kid's Extravaganzas

Kid’s Extravaganzas are children’s outreaches done in community centers or soccer fields, all over the city, or in local children’s homes/orphanages. There are several locations where we do regular Kid’s Extravaganzas and many more awaiting an available team. Kid's Extravaganza programs consist of praise and worship, dramas, games and contests, puppet skits, memory verse, handouts, prizes, and a food distribution. Each program is about 1-1½ hours long and gives us a chance to spend quality time with a smaller group of children (each site usually yields 40-100 kids). At the end of the program, we give the children a snack and bagged food to take home to their families--typically some combination of rice, beans, flour, sugar, and dried milk. If a Kid's Extravaganza is done at an orphanage, we usually bring a 50 kg bag of rice and some large cans of beans....

Ministry in public schools consists of 20-45 minutes (depending on the school) of devotions. During this time, we are free to do whatever we feel led to do. In the past we have done praise and worship, games and illustrations, dramas, shared testimonies, and offered an invitation for salvation. We have also prayed for the students one-on-one and given tracts and treats to the children. On occasion, we have given other things to the schools such as: school supplies, books, and rice and other staple food items. The message Jamaica children need to hear is one of hope for the future and encouragement that God has a plan for their life, and that their life can be meaningful and full of purpose. We have been highly favored with wide-open doors to come into the schools, and it is a great ministry opportunity to impact hundreds or thousands of children at one place.
